The cruises generally sail on dates between November and March, when the weather is warmest. Winter sailings are rare because huge pieces of frozen ice can make travel dangerous. By sailing in summer, the ships barely get besieged in the icy waters.

Most ships depart from Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. It usually takes about two days to sail thru the Drake Passage. Travelers will enjoy the impressive views and the unique wildlife seen from the ship. Most ships will provide shore excursions so that visitors can explore by land. These journeys are sometimes lead by expert lecturers who can answer anyone’s questions about the natural beauty and wildlife they encounter.

Different cruise ships offer different schedules, and most travelers will be well placed to see some of the shocking sights in the area. Many cruises shall visit Livingston Island, Cuverville Island, Petermann Island, and Paradise Bay. A trip to Antarctica will be a trip to remember for all time.
